Natalie Dyer began her journey over 30 years ago. It all started with a conversation with a friend in high school who mentioned that she wanted to study the mind and why people behave the way they do, which is the study of psychology. Natalie actually found this intriguing; however, she enrolled in college as a music major. Before long, psychology was calling her, and she made the shift. Natalie transferred and became a psychology major at the University of North Texas. Now, she has been a counselor for over 20 years.

She is passionate about marriage and relationship counseling; this includes pre-marital counseling. She says, “Many people view relationships as complex, but it is simpler than what they make it. If people were more service-minded, they would actually meet the needs of their mate and have their own met by reciprocity.

She also enjoys working with women’s issues and men’s issues. She said, “If a man wants to counsel, I will adjust my schedule because that doesn’t happen often.” Natalie also serves the African American community. In years past, many people in the black community would say, “You’ve got to be crazy to go to counseling.”

Now that stigma is changing some because more people are modeling and advocating the idea of taking care of their mental health.
